Chapter One

WHAT IS DESTINY?

Understanding of one’s life’s purpose or why we exist they say, comes with age or experience. This to an extent is true, but for me, it is my understanding of God and who He is. Born into a middle income family, in two of the oil richest states in the country, not too poor and not wealthy, defined the parameter of opportunities and pleasures that I had growing up. My parents were just ordinary citizens whose aim is to work daily and raise 16 boys and girls, who at bed time will sprawl over the living room to other bed rooms, some of which were my siblings and others from relatives.

CAUGHT IN THE MIX

From 1979 to 1980 going towards the completion of my high school education, the urge to school abroad, especially in the United States became visibly strong and noticed. Reflecting back then, I could not even fathom why. I had no family or friends abroad that I knew. But I had access to admission information of colleges and universities and pursued it. I got admitted into Grambling State University in Louisiana. But due to a polygamous background, my father could not support my traveling. After I came to the United States in 1989, almost 10 year after, then what God said to my wife and I, that He was sending us to the United States as missionaries and reach His world, became clear. The question is why here and not some other country? Yes indeed, back home in 1989, it was my wife that started the pursuit to leave the country. I was not interested. I had a good and promising job and business. She wanted us to go to London where most of her relatives were. But every step we took met a dead end. Then suddenly, when I offered that we go to the United States, it seems the rough road became paved.

Challenges of Hindsight & Foresight

As a little kid, probably about 8 years old, I was constantly sick or afflicted with fever, headaches and cold, and often went into convulsion, meaning a critical moment that my vitals sign indicated a state of illness with possibility of going into a shock or even death. But my parents will nurse me back to health. When in the village with my grandparents, they will apply the traditional homemade herbal medicine or remedies and when in the city, I had the luxury of either going to the hospital or clinic. But as to why these constant or episodic experiences or attacks eluded my parents or anyone around me. Could it be possible that some forces temporary or spiritual were responsible for this? Is there something in me, my future and my life unknown to my parents and anyone around, that could be advanced for these incidences or occurrences?

“1 And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan. 2 These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report. 3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours. 4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him. Gen 37:1-4 (K JV)"

I also remember as a little child having accidents, head injuries, leg injuries and one time almost drowned in the river. On another occasion, hot oil spilled over on my stomach as I was frying plantains. What are witches? I never knew what this is. But when I started my middle grade school and going to high school as a boarding student, there was the episodic experience of constantly being oppressed at night, fighting in my dreams, being beaten by someone whose form I cannot discern or being chased by bulls. I was also mentally oppressed and could not grapes or comprehend whatever I was being taught or studied. I was not retarded, but in my elementary to high school, I was academically unfocused and delinquent. My height was below my age level and that of the average height and age of my age mates or peers. Gen 37:23-28 (KJV)

“23 And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph ow of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him; 24 And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it. 25 And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with Their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt. 26 And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood? 27 Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content 28 Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.”

When I shared these experiences with my parents who were then nominal Christians, some of these they knew very well, but others they were just as confused as to what was happening. They took to me see a voodoo priest for diagnosis and remedy, quite popular in Africa, for it runs in the family. Unfortunately for me, it never worked. But after I got saved, meaning prayed to receive Jesus Christ into my life at a campus Christian fellowship revival, the whole illness, nightmares, accidents, physical and mental oppression ceased. THE JABEZ TRIUMPH: Discover the uncommon secrets that made Jabez triumph in life with specialized prayers to move you from where you are to where you ought to be in life

Part 1

“Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.” 2 Corinthians 2:14

Jabez story is a historical classic, and movies, books and poems that may have been written on him may be of historic proportions.

This man can be characterized as a legend, someone the bible who can easily qualify as a hero of faith even though he was not mentioned by Apostle Paul in Hebrews 11. 9And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. 10And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. 1 Chronicles 4:9-10

Books have been written about the Jabez Prayer, poems have been written and sang about the Jabez Prayer, and movies have been staged on the Jabez Prayer, but what about the Jabez Triumph?

I want to know how this man made it from ground zero, which many of us are in, to the ivory tower of prominence, victory and the blessed one; I want to know what he had in him that provoked the mental, spiritual and physical tenacity causing the release which he had; I want to know what he did beside prayer that delivered him from the drudgery of living an empty life to the citadel of hope, conquest, peace and joy; I want to know what are his contemplations, regrets, weaknesses and strengths.

I believe Jabez was man just like us, the same way Prophet Elijah who in his lifetime wrought awesome works of wonders, signs and miracles, but whom God’s word equaled to us.

“17Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. 18And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.. James 5:17-18 "

Jabez, as his mother named him, implies sorrow. We were not given details as to why the mother named her son this way, other than she conceived him in sorrow.

I know of women that have had painful and costly conceptions, pregnancies and deliveries, yet when the baby was eventually born, they were excited and named their children blessed names, glorifying God.

Your name identifies you; it gives you your purpose, personality and destiny. In other words, right from Jabez infancy, youthful experiences and all the way to his adult life, he never enjoyed peace, joy and rest. He was always a victim of circumstances. His personality provoked that of shame, regret, destruction a

You have no idea what it means to live a life daily wondering why you were made like this. Why you are so different from others. And living in guilt and painful memories of what you have done or should not have done.

But all that changed in the life of Jabez. Jabez triumphed over his life of sorrow.

What happened? What was the process? Was it just one day or it took months and years of work for this massive change to occur in his life? What pieces of examples can we gather from his life story to emulate or copy.

Yes, his prayer caused him to triumph, but there was more to it. Jabez had qualities in him and he did things that gave him the qualifying approval. 10And God granted him that which he requested. 1 Chronicles 4:10

There are six things or qualities, I have come to identify that Jabez had that worked together or metamorphosed into the triumph he had in his life. Firstly, Jabez had a desire in him. Desire is an innate hunger within the human to have, to acquire, appropriate and seek for something beyond and above what one has. Jabez had a desire so strong within him for change that he could hardly sleep or converse with any one without referencing it

I believe the desire in Jabez was to have the good life; the life of giving people joy, peace and rest instead of pain, bitterness and tears; I believe Jabez had the desire to provide for his family, make peoples lives better and contribute to a successful and vibrant community or family; I believe Jabez had the desire to be fiscally responsible and economically independent; I believe Jabez had the desire to achieve the American dream or whatever dreams befits your country or community.

But Desire is in the pursuit. Desire by itself is nothing, without the engine in motion to make it happen. Desire without taking steps is nothing but a wish list, and like what has been prominently said, “If wishes were horses then beggars would ride.”

Desire is like a propelled grenade ready to detonate with its lever off. No one can block it except you.

The Lord Jesus Christ himself said,

24Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24

Chapter 1

No believer in Christ is born a soul winner or created with the ability to know how to reach the lost for Christ and get them saved. Yes we may have the calling as an evangelist just like John the Baptist whose parents received word of prophecy concerning him:

16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. 17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias. to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just: to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. Luke 1:16-17 (KJV)

Yet after John the Baptist birth, he was not thrust immediately into his ministry of reaching out to the Jewish people and turning their hearts to God until he was trained, groomed and prepared. See what the scripture says about him:.

-80 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.” Luke 1:80 (KJV)

He grew physically and spiritually. Meaning development was taking place as he was under the guidance, teachings and tutoring of his parents and the Holy Spirit. The scripture says “and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing.” The question is what was he doing in the deserts? He was being trained, he was being prepared and he was being equipped. Not being trained, prepared and equipped to engage sinners or win the lost to Christ has been the cause of many misinterpretation and misrepresentation which has made many to be fearful, frustrated and have disappointing experiences. It is like Apostle Peter who in spite of all his years of expertise and experience as a fisherman met with a disappointing experience. “

5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing:” Luke 5:5 (KJV)

But the beautiful thing about Apostle Peter was, he was humble, broken and willing to learn from the very best of teachers, a legend and authority in the field of fishing.

“Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught” Luke 5:4 (KJV), the Master said. When Peter obeyed, 5. ...nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net” the Bible says, 6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. 7. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. Luke 5:5-7 (KJV)

Peter’s perspective on fishing was changed and greatly impacted by this experience.

“8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, 0 Lord. 9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: Luke 5:8-9 (KJV)

Something remarkable always happen to a believer and the church that is willing to learn the act of soul winning and be obedient to the Lord of the harvest.

“And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. Luke 5:10 (KJV).

Soul wining or “catching men” is not different from fishing. You just have to know the tricks of the game like Jesus Christ did and be willing to learn and be taught.

Introduction

“ Bless and affectionately praise the Lord, O my soul, And all that is [deep] within me, bless His holy name. 2 Bless and affectionately praise the Lord, O my soul, And do not forget any of His benefits; 3 Who forgives all your sins, Who heals all your diseases; 4 Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you [lavishly] with lovingkindness and tender mercy; 5 Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the [soaring] eagle. 6 The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.” PSALMS 103:1-5; AMP.

Why This Word

We are in a famine and war, and we need THE WORD to stay above the realm of human degradation and hostilities.

"Blessed [with spiritual security] is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord And whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord. 8 “For he will be [nourished] like a tree planted by the waters, That spreads out its roots by the river; And will not fear the heat when it comes; But its leaves will be green and moist. And it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought Nor stop bearing fruit." Jeremiah 17:7-8

He Made a Perfect Earth

The world we see today, isn't what the Almighty God made.

"And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day." Genesis 1:31 KJV.

At this Moment. This Word is coming at a time that the world is in peril, perplexities, confusion and agony, everywhere.

"Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken." Luke 21:26; KJV

GROSS Darkness

"For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee." Isaiah 60:2; KJV.

Then, The Lord Jesus says

"But Jesus said to them, It is I; be not afraid! [I Am; stop being frightened!]". Luke 6:20

LIGHT, Appeared

"But for this purpose was the son of God manifested, that, he might destroy the works of the devil." 1 John 3:8;

Given Us All Things

"For His divine power has bestowed on us [absolutely] everything necessary for [a dynamic spiritual] life and godliness, through true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 4 For by these He has bestowed on us His precious and magnificent promises [of inexpressible value], so that by them you may escape from the immoral freedom that is in the world because of disreputable desire, and become sharers of the divine nature." 2 Peter 1:3-4; Amplified Bible

IN HIS Presence

In the realm where God is, there is PLENTY, abundance and overwhelming blessings for His children. That is what LOADED is

"Thou wilt show me the path of life; in Thy presence is fullness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore." Psalms 16:11; KJV.
